Christian Craig inherited the lead when Nichols went down. Craig pulled away from the crowd and was never challenged.
Nichols quickly worked his way through
the field and spent much of the second half of the race battling with Jett Lawrence for 4th place. Lawrence and Nichols eventually worked passed Mitchell Oldenburg for 3rd and 4th place.
Nichols passed Lawrence with two laps remaining.
Lawrence tangled with a lapper on the final lap and surrendered 4th place to Oldenburg.

While Justin Barcia and Adam Cianciarulo were bouncing off each other in the first turn, Ken Roczen slid past them to take the early lead.
Barcia, Cooper Webb and Eli Tomac kept close to Roczen for the first 15 minutes but weren’t able to make a move on him or pass each other.
But in the final 5 minutes, Webb finally got past Barcia. He put pressure on Roczen but wasn’t able to make a move for the lead.
With a minute to go, Barcia crashed when he got tangled up while lapping Vince Friese. Tomac also got caught up in the crash. Tomac was in sixth place when he got going again while Barcia dropped to 19th.
