Austin Forkner went wire-to-wire without ever facing much of a challenge.
450 Class
Eli Tomac took an early lead and started to pull away a little bit. It looked like Tomac might be able to check out like he does so often when he gets a good start. But it didn't happen. Tomac wasn't able to pull away, and about 4 minutes into the race, Ken Roczen got by him for the lead.
Roczen and Tomac diced for 2 or 3 laps before Tomac crashed. By the time Tomac got up he was in seventh place, and he only faded from there. Roczen held a 2 minute lead over Marvin Musquin for most of the race, but then Cooper Webb started charging from sixth place.
With 4 minutes left Webb passed Musquin for second and set his sights on Roczen. Webb slowly reeled in Roczen and by the final lap was able to show a wheel to Roczen. It looked like Roczen would be able to hold off Webb, but Webb charged the whoop section just before the finish and was able to sneak underneath Roczen on the final turn and made a pass to beat Roczen by half a wheel length. |
