The track started off dry with rain in the forecast. All the heat races and LCQ's went off without much impact from the rain.
But as the main events got going, the rain started to fall and got worse as the night went along. Despite the rain, the track remained in decent condition, but definitely got wet.
In the 250 main, it looked like Adam Cianciarulo would get the holeshot, but he ended up going off the edge and falling way back in the back. After the second corner, Colt Nichols took a lead that he never relinquished and was never challenged.
Shane McElrath settled in behind Nichols but was overtaken by Dylan Ferrandis with about 5 laps to go.
Dean Wilson surprised everybody by taking the early lead in the 450 main, with Malcolm Stewart following him. The two held their spots for 11 laps before falling victim to Justin Barcia who pulled away for the win.
Eli Tomac had a mid-pack start, but slowly worked his way through the crowd to finish in a podium spot behind Ken Roczen.
Defending champion Jason Anderson started near the front of the pack, but fell back in the race and even got lapped by a handful of riders.
As Cianciarulo worked his way up, he tangled with RJ Hampshire twice, and got the worst of it the second time. |
