Shane McElrath jumped out to an early lead, and was cruising most of the way with a 3 or 4 second lead, looking in good shape to re-take the points lead from Justin Hill. Then, late in the race, McElrath developed a mechanical problem and had to pull off the track. Hill took advantage and went on to win the main event. Austin Forkner finished second and Aaron Plessinger rounded out the podium. McElrath limped his way around the track to try to salvage some points, but finished 22nd.
In the 450 main, Marvin Musquin took the holeshot and held a solid lead over Cooper Webb, who had to pull off with a flat tire. Ryan Dungey had a bad start, giving Eli Tomac a golden opportunity to gain some ground in the point standings. But as Tomac was working his way up to a podium spot, he crashed and broke something on his front brake, forcing him into the mechanic’s area for a repair so he could finish the race with no front brake.
After a 13th place start, Dungey worked his way up to 5th place by the halfway point of the race and settled for a 4th place finish.
Musquin was never challenged and went on to pick up his first career 450 main event win by 5 seconds over Cole Seely. Jason Anderson rounded out the podium.
