Ricky Carmichael entered the 16th and final round tied with Chad Reed in the 450 class point standings.
James Stewart was just 5 points behind in 3rd place.
With 3 riders having a legitimate shot at the championship, this figured to be an exciting round.
Stewart ended up going wire-to-wire for the win, but with Carmichael finishing 2nd, Stewart was only able to gain 3 points and Carmichael won the championship by 2 points.
Reed started off in 5th place, quickly moved up to 3rd and stayed there until the end, finishing 3 seconds behind Carmichael and 7 seconds behind Stewart.
In the 250 class, Andrew Short won the East-West shootout, beating Mike Alessi by 10 seconds. Alessi got to the early lead, but Short took over on the third lap and led the rest of the way to the checkers. |
